Lecturers in the forum were specialists in healthcare from Hong Kong and Macau

Dr.Chen Lai Leong, vice executive officer of Macau Society of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine, presented in the forum.

Hosted by Faculty of Health Sciences of MUST, “Sino-Luso International Medical Forum (Series Twenty-One): Advanced Clinical Toxicology” was held at the Lecture Hall of Dr. Stanley Ho Medical Development Foundation, Landmark, Macau on September 27 to 29, 2014. The event was supported by National Health and Family Planning Commission, PRC, Chinese Medical Doctors Association, and some outstanding healthcare organizations and Portuguese associations in Macau.

Mainly for the medical workers in public and private hospitals in Macau, the workshops focused on the latest research on treating substances that poison the human body, including treatment for alcohol abuse and drug addiction.

The president of Sino-Luso International Medical Forum and the dean of Faculty of Health Sciences of MUST, Dr. Manson Fok said that the aim of the forum was to bring together the leading experts to exchange and share different experiences in toxicology. It also provided a unique platform for all the healthcare partners to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends in toxicology, challenges in the emergency services and the latest treatments adopted in practice.

Dr. Lau Fei Lung, director of Hong Kong Poison Information Center, pointed out that drug abuse, alcohol abuse and metal poisoning were hot issues nowadays. In this forum, the experts discussed different treatments, advanced antidote and detection on human exposure to toxin. They also provided training to Macau medical workers, ensuring that they were capable of dealing with emergency and challenges. Other lecturers in the forum were Dr. Tse Man Li,consultant of Hong Kong Poison Information Center, Dr. Chan Chi Keung,assistant consultant of Hong Kong Poison Information Center, Dr. Chan Yiu Cheung, president of Hong Kong Society of Clinical Toxicology, Prof. Gregory Cheung, consultant of University Hospital, MUST, Dr. Chen Lai Leong, vice executive officer of Macau Society of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine, and Dr. Chang Tam Fei, executive officer of Macau Society of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine.
