Shape the Future of Healthcare! M.U.S.T. Launches a New PhD Program in Biomedical Sciences


On March 20, 2024, the newly established Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Sciences Program at the Macau University of Science and Technology received official registration and approval from the Macao SAR government. The program is scheduled to commence in the fall of the 2024/2025 academic year, the online applications (https://must.mo/dpbs-enus) are available until May 13, 2024 (GMT+8).

The big health industry has constituted to be an important part of the core competitiveness worldwide; Macao SAR has also given it special support as a key development area. The cultivation of inter-disciplinary talents is the basis for promoting the development of the big health industry. Since the establishment in 2000, Macau University of Science and Technology has always regarded life science as one of the key development areas. It has established a relatively complete multidisciplinary system of medicine, pharmacy, nursing, and public health, etc., and has established the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine. In order to further promote academic progress, assist the development of the health industry in the Macao SAR and the Greater Bay Area and even the country, and meet social needs, the university has made full use of its own advantages and launched a doctoral program in biomedical sciences. Aimed at cultivating high-level talents with professional knowledge and research capabilities in the field of biomedical sciences, this course will further enhance M.U.S.T.’s doctoral students’ scientific inquiry and international academic exchanges in related fields.

The Faculty of Medicine is founded in 2019 (formerly known as the Faculty of Health Sciences), is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (published by the World Federation for Medical Education and the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research). We are also one of the 13 founding members of the World Portuguese Speaking Countries Medical School Alliance. Disciplines such as Molecular Biology and Genetics, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Clinical Medicine, Biology and Biochemistry have entered the top 1% of Essential Science Indicators (ESI).
