Ho Teng Iat, Doctor of Social Science honoris causa


Ms. Ho Teng Iat is currently Vice Chairman of the Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong Macao Taiwan and Overseas Chinese of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Standing Council Member of the China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification, Standing Member of the All-China Women’s Federation, Member of the Talents Development Committee of the Macao S.A.R., Member of the Women and Children Affairs Committee of the Macao S.A.R., Trustee of the Macao Foundation, President of the Women’s General Association of Macau, President of the Obra das Mães (Mother’s Work) of Macao, Vice President of Board of Directors of the Macao Chamber of Commerce, Vice President of the Industrial Association of Macao, President of Board of Directors of the Association of Zhejiang Entrepreneurs of Macao, Vice President of the Association for Development and Promotion of the Macao Basic Law, President of the Charity Fund From the Readers of Macao Daily News, Vice President of The Board of Supervisors of the Macau Tung Sin Tong Charitable Society, Board Member of the University Council of Macau University of Science and Technology, Member of the Policy Decision  Advisory Committee of Zhuhai, and Member of the Hengqin New Area Development Advisory Committee of Zhuhai. She was the Standing Member of the Advisory Committee of the Macao Basic Law and concurrently the Convener of the Economy Panel of the Committee, and the Deputy Secretary of the Preparatory Committee for the Macao S.A.R.of NPC Standing Committee.

Over the years, Ms. Ho has long dedicated herself to the development of Macao’s social causes, including industry and commerce, politics, women, children, youth, charity, and education. She’s been active in the political arena advising on policies, committed to services for many societies and associations, enthusiastic in philanthropic causes, compassionate to socially vulnerable groups, and supportive to education. Her selfless contributions have been widely praised and recognized by the social communities. She was awarded the Medal of Merit - Industry and Commerce in 2004 and the Decoration of Honour - Silver Lotus in 2011 by the Macao S.A.R. Government. The annual charitable Walk for Millions organized by the Charity Fund from the Readers of Macao Daily News, where she serves as the President, has become an annual brand charity event in Macao. Also, under her leadership, the Obra das Mães and the Women’s General Association of Macau were conferred Medal of Merit - Philanthropy, respectively in 2007 and 2018.

Born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, Ms. Ho is the daughter of the late Mr. Ho Tin, who was a successful entrepreneur known as the “Founding Person of the Macao Industries”. Having inherited the spirit of her family, she’s made multidimensional contributions to the industrial and commercial prosperity and societal development in Macao. What’s more, Ms. Ho has shown great concern with education, and has worked as a guest researcher at Zhejiang University; she’s also serving as a member of the University Council of Macau University of Science and Technology and has provided great support for the development of the University.
