Li Yi Ning, Doctor of Business Administration honoris causa


Professor Li Yi Ning is a prominent Chinese economist; he hosted the drafting of the Securities Law of The People’s Republic of China, and the Securities Investment Fund Law of the People’s Republic of China. He has published thirteen kinds of academic works, including Chinese Economy in Dual Transition, Ideas on China’s Economic Reform, Share-holding System and Modern Market Economy, Disequilibrium of Chinese Economy, Development Theory of Transformation, and many others, which have become must-read classics for people who wish to study Chinese economy. The economic theories he advocated, including the modern market economy and share-holding system reform theory, and the well-known disequilibrium of Chinese economy theory and development theory of transformation, are credited with providing the theoretical basis for formulation of development strategies of Chinese economy; his economic ideas have been transformed to realities of national economic development, providing real paths toward well-being for the people.

Representing China’s national image, he was selected to enter the 2010 China National Image Promotional Film, which is a special project sponsored by the Information Office of the State Council to brand and promote China’s national image as a country demonstrating economic prosperity, democratic advancement, cultural openness, and peace and harmony.

He has won many awards for his outstanding contributions in economics and other academic fields, including Sun Yefang Economics Prize, the Golden Triangle Award, the first class Award for Research Excellence by the Ministry of Education, the National International Cooperation Award of Environment and Development (one of the highest honors in the Chinese economic world for individuals), Academic Research Award in the 15th Fukuoka Asian Culture Prize (Japan), and the Innovation Award at the 2nd China Economic Theories Innovation Awards. He also serves as an advisor of the World Civil Service Leaders Society, and has won Lifetime Achievement Award of China’s Economic Person of the Year, and Lifetime Achievement Award of Wu Yuzhang Social Sciences Awards.

He is a man who has changed the world with his ideas; he is a man who has made significant contributions to our country’s economic theories and economic practices; he is Prof. Li Yi Ning. In recognition of Prof. Li’s great achievements in leading China’s economic reform with his academic ideas, may we please invite Dr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao S.A.R., to confer Honorary Doctor of Business Administration upon Professor Li Yi Ning.
