On March 18, 2018, Macao Government Tourism Organization (M.G.T.O.) organized an event entitled “Experience Macao Savory Style” in the culinary lab of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, M.U.S.T. Eight elite bachelor students of Food and Management had the pleasure of learning Macanese/Portuguese cuisine from Chef Sandra Barros, the owner of Cafe Sab8 in Macao. This campaign was held to promote Macao’s destination image as the City of Gastronomy and to enhance the cultural exchange in gastronomy.
Besides demonstrating four indigenous Macanese cuisines: Caldo Verde (Portuguese Potato Kale Soup), Curil de Galinha (Curry Chicken), Ameijoa com Vinho Branco (Clam in White Wine Sauce), and Pudim de Ovos (Egg Pudding with Carmamel), Chef Sandro introduced the local ingredients and shared the unique food culture of Macao with all attendees. The students were intrigued by the technique and were delighted to create their very first Macanese cuisine. The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, is honored to promote the culture and history of Macao cuisine, will continue to emphasize its importance in the future teachings and strengthen students’ knowledge and experience by all efforts.
The event is sponsored by MGTO.
