At the invitation of Matakana Estate, a group of seven FHTM students started the twelve-day experiential learning trip to New Zealand on June 6th, 2018.
The courses of this experiential learning trip are mainly about food & beverage culture and winery production. Guided by Matakana Estate’s wine master, students visited the vineyard and winery, and learned the characteristics of grape wine, the production process, and the basics of wine tasting.
Besides wine appreciation, students were engaged in a series of experiential learning activities such as learning how to cook local food, starting from ingredients selection, and how to perform high-quality food & beverage services, and visiting the chocolate factory, etc..
This experiential learning trip not only enriched students’ knowledge in the field of food & beverage, but also enabled them to learn from New Zealand’s model--integrating their cultural and environmental resources into the development of tourism and hospitality industry.
The 12-day trip in New Zealand came to an end on June 17th with a complete success and participating students all felt satisfied and improved. FHTM will keep growing and make efforts to develop more international learning opportunities for our students, so as to broaden their horizon and enrich their mind.
