The Macao Institute of Materials Science and Engineering (MIMSE) and Department of Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE) of Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) held a meeting for academic cooperation with the Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics & Huazhong University of Science and Technology on February 23, 2023. The meeting was attended by Deputy Director Wang Jian, Professor Wang Lei, Professor Gan Zongsong, Professor Guo Subo, and Professor Zhang Yu. They were warmly welcomed by Executive Head Tang Jianxin, Professor Li Liang, Assistant Professor Ou Qingdong, Assistant Professor Zeng Songshan, Assistant Professor Cheong Weng Chon, and Assistant Professor Zhao Xunhua from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Faculty of Innovation Engineering.
At the meeting, Executive Head Tang Jianxin introduced the faculty to the guests, as well as the founding vision, research direction and progress of MIMSE’s integration into the Greater Bay Area. He expected more and deeper exchange and cooperation with the Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics in the near future. Deputy Director Wang Jian complimented the rapid progress of MIMSE and gave a detailed introduction to the development and research focuses of the Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics. At the same time, they are looking forward to making full use of the platform resources of the Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics and actively promoting related project cooperation.
Subsequently, the two sides conducted in-depth discussions and idea exchanges on their respective research strengths in the field of nanomaterial technology and application, and optoelectronic information technology. Also, they exchanged opinions on cooperation issues such as research project cooperation and resource sharing, and reached a preliminary consensus on establishing joint laboratories and joint training of talents. They hoped to work together in the future orienting the national strategy "Four Facings" to jointly promote the development of China’s science and technology in the “New Era”.
