Event Series for the 20th Anniversary of the MUST: Co-Chairman of the Alliance for Financial Stability with Information Technology (AFS-IT), Mr. Teng Lin Seng, delivered a Lecture Titled “Anti-Money Laundering and Digital ID”

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) and its Law Faculty, the 18th session of the Shizi Gate Master Lecture (the first session of the academic year 2020-2021) was held on the morning of December 2 in the N101 Lecture Hall on campus. Mr. Teng Lin Seng, Co-Chairman of the Alliance for Financial Stability with Information Technology (AFS-IT), a non-profit organization based in Hong Kong, was invited to invited to deliver a lecture titled “Anti-Money Laundering and Digital ID”. The Shizi Gate Master Lecture series are supported by the Foundation of Macau University of Science and Technology.

Chairman Teng Lin Seng started with the definition of anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing. His lecture covered a wide range of critical issues, including the background of international and regional anti-money laundering organizations, the mutual evaluation process among the members of these organizations, their compliance with the FATF standards, the FATF recommendations and the framework of effectiveness objectives, the experience of mutual evaluation within the APG in Macao, the FATF CDD and KYC guidelines, and the FATF guidelines developed particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, etc. Chairman Teng said that all industries should cooperate with the anti-money laundering measures promulgated by the relevant government departments, comply with the law, and perform their duties with due diligence. Legal practitioners are advised to enhance their professional knowledge, cooperate with the enforcement of regulations, make better use of financial and monitoring technology, perform identification and due diligence work under the legal compliance norms, and cooperate with the new working mode under the epidemic to maintain the economic and financial operations.
