On the evening of March 2, 2023, the lecture on "Patent Application and Licensing" was successfully held in Classroom O601 of the university. The guest speaker for this lecture was Mr. Yu Zishan. Mr. Yu Zishan previously served as the Deputy Director of the Technology Transfer Office at the University of Hong Kong and officially joined the Macau University of Science and Technology in 2023. He is currently the Director of Research Commercialization and Entrepreneurship at the Faculty of Innovation Engineering of the M.U.S.T.
Director Yu began by explaining what a patent is, further discussing practical issues such as who can be a patentee and how to define inventors in the context of job inventions. He then provided further explanations and analyses on the practices of patent application in different countries and regions, such as the United States and China, as well as issues related to patent infringement disputes that arise in practice.
During the lecture, Director Yu combined his rich practical experience in industry-academia collaboration and technology transfer to delve into the professional knowledge and practical work related to patents, stimulating deep reflections. Associate Professor Yi Zaicheng from the Faculty of Law and nearly 100 graduate students attended the lecture, filling up the seats and creating a strong academic atmosphere.
