Successfully held the lecture series on "Regulation of Virtual Assets in Hong Kong: New Developments and Prospects."

The event, organized by the Faculty of Law at Macau University of Science and Technology, took place on the evening of April 3, 2023, at Lecture Hall N316 on the university campus. The distinguished speaker for the lecture was Professor Robin Hui Huang, Chair Professor and doctoral supervisor at the Faculty of Law, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The panel discussion featured Mou Xiaobo Program Director at the Faculty of Law, as well as Assistant Professors Peng Yunpeng and Zhong Wencai. The lecture was moderated by Assistant Professor Wang Chao. More than a hundred students from the Faculty of Law attended the event.

At the beginning of the lecture, Mou Xiaobo, Program Director at the Faculty of Law, presented a commemorative gift to Professor Robin Hui Huang on behalf of the law school. In return, Professor Huang graciously gifted a copy of his latest English book on financial technology to the Faculty of Law at Macau University of Science and Technology. The two esteemed individuals then posed for a photograph to commemorate the occasion.

During the lecture, Professor Robin Hui Huang shared insights on the new developments and prospects of virtual asset regulation in Hong Kong. He provided an overview of virtual asset regulation, discussed the legal framework in Hong Kong, highlighted recent regulatory measures and policy changes, and explored the challenges and opportunities in the industry.

Subsequently, Professor Mou Xiaobo, Professor Peng Yunpeng, Professor Zhong Wencai, and Professor Wang Chao engaged in a discussion from different perspectives on the topic of the lecture, exploring the regulatory models for virtual assets across the Taiwan Strait and the four regions.

In response to questions from each participant, Professor Robin Hui Huang provided detailed and professional responses, using concrete examples to demonstrate the ideas and challenges of regulating virtual assets, triggering further contemplation on regulatory system reforms among the audience. During the interactive session, students in attendance actively expressed their opinions and posed questions, and Professor Robin Hui Huang presented the latest monographs to some lucky students through a lottery. The enthusiasm of the professors and students was high, and the lecture lasted for nearly three hours, concluding with a resounding applause from the audience, marking a successful event.
