F.H.T.M. Hosted The 6th Culinary Competition

The 6th Culinary Competition organized by the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (F.H.T.M.) was held at Culinary Lab O202. This was an individual competition which attracted Year 2 and Year 3 students from Food and Beverage Management program. Chef Yves Duron from the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Chef Benjamin Chen from Macao Institute for Tourism Studies, Chef Daniel Lai, Manager of Wynn F&B Academy (Culinary) were invited as judges for this competition. Prof. Ben K. Goh, Dean of F.H.T.M., Dr. Brenda Yang, Program Director of F.H.T.M, Dr. Jose Wong, Program Director of F.H.T.M, Dr. Feng Yan, Program Director of F.H.T.M. and Dr. Pai Chen Kuo attended this competition.

In the first and second round, the contestants were judged on their knife skill and poached eggs. After the first and second round competition, 6 contestants were moved forward to the third round competition. During the third round, the contestants were required to complete a dish (steak) within 30 minutes.

In the end, Chao, In Nam, Ng, Hang Kit, Yu, Yang were awarded the first, second and third place respectively.

Award Ceremony

The evaluation criteria included knife skills, hygiene, ingredients using ability, taste and so on. Finally, the champion was Chao, In Nam. The culinary competition enriched the students’ learning experiences and enhanced their professional skills, which would certainly be a great treasure for their future careers.
