Special Funding Scheme for Humanities and Social Studies in Macao Colleges and Universities
Funding Areas:
- General Research Areas: During the application year, research projects in the human and social fields (or interdisciplinary areas) shall be carried out by Macao universities or institutions in cooperation with other local, Mainland or overseas universities or institutions.
- Key Research Areas: The Scheme has set up special key research areas to give priority to funding relevant projects. (Subject to the annual announcement of the Higher Education Fund)
Application Time:
Once a year (subject to notification time).
Project Execution Period:
Not more than two years.
Special Funding Scheme for Training of Chinese and Portuguese Talents and Teaching and Research Cooperation in Macao Institutions of Higher Learning
Program Objectives:
With the aim of building Macao into a chinese-portuguese bilingual talent development base and a "Business And Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries", macao will continue to promote the training of Chinese-Portuguese bilingual talents in Macao through special subsidies, as well as to promote co-operation between Macao, the Mainland and other portuguese-speaking countries in related higher education areas.
Funding Scope:
Subject to the annual announcement of the Higher Education Fund.

Special Funding Scheme for Tourism Education and Training in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area
Funding Scope:
- Universities in Macao carry out or cooperate with universities or institutions in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to carry out academic research or research projects related to the enhancement of tourism education and related fields.
- To organise training programmes to enhance the professional quality and professional ability of staff in tourism education-related teaching, teacher training and professional certification in universities in Macao and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
- Organize relevant forums, seminars and other academic activities, actively give full play to the disciplinary advantages in tourism education and training, and promote Macao to become a regional tourism training base.
Application Time :
Once a year (subject to email notification time).
Project Execution Period :
Not more than two years.
Professional Development Grants for Macao Higher Education Institutions
Main Scope of Funding:
- Participation in academic activities: Participate in regional, national or international academic activities (such as academic conferences and seminars, etc.) organized by relevant institutions in the field, attend and publish academic papers or be invited to serve as speakers.
- Other: Participate in activities or programs that contribute to the personal professional development of faculty and researchers.
Application Time :
Applications are accepted throughout the year (applications should be made not less than 45 days before the start date of the event).
Macao higher education institutions are funded by projects to purchase facilities and equipment and improve the quality of teaching and research
