The 1st Lotus Cup Legal Speech Competition was organized by Faculty of Law and was jointly organized by Faculty of Law Students’ Association and Macau University of Science and Technology Foundation on 11 December 2019. There were 10 outstanding students got into the final, they were Zhu Yimen, Liu Wanchen, Dong Ruoming, Hung Qin, Fang Haocheng, Yu Ziyi, Lu Wenshu, Zou Zizhen, Wan Yixuan and Li Yao. Eventually, Yu Ziyi, Wang Yixuan and Zou Zizhen were obtained the Champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up prize respectively. And Fang Haocheng, Dong Ruoming and Liu Wanchen were obtained the merit awards.
Fang Quan (Executive Vice Dean of Faculty of Law), Mrs. Luo Xiuhao (Advisory Committee of Faculty of Law / Vice-president of Legal Affairs of Amway (China), Lawyer Lu Xiaofang (Advisory Committee of Faculty of Law), Mrs. Choi Ka Ling (Chairman of Hong Kong Youth New Media Alliance / Chairman of the Greater Bay Area Speecher Organizing Committee of Hong Kong Competition Division / well-known media in Hong Kong), Lawyer Xu Bing (Alumnus of M.U.S.T.), Associated Professor Wang Chuanhui (Program Director of Faculty of Law), Associated Professor Xie Gengliang (Program Director of Faculty of Law) were the judges of this speech competition.

Lawyer Xu Bing complimented on students’ performance that they aroused people's legal concepts with profound themes. Xie Gengliang, the Program Director, praised the freshmen for the excellent performances and hoped that the freshmen for next year would continue to participate in this competition.

The aim of the Lotus Cup Legal Speech Competition was to enhance students’ speech ability, train up students’ communication and leadership skill. Enriching their after school life and stepping up the relationship between each other. This 1st competition was gone through two parts which were qualifying and final. Encouraging students to give the speech in public and to express themselves bravely. This competition would be held in the next academic year, and looking forward to seeing more students to show their talents.
