M.U.S.T. medical students awarded China utility model patent

Recently, a patent for "a stirring stick for sealing powder" designed by undergraduate students of Food and Nutrition Science of the Faculty of Medicine of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), Zhang Yujia, Zhang Lanxin, Fan Yawen, Zhai Lingi and Lu Yongtong, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Zhong Tian, was successfully granted by the State Intellectual Property Office (ZL 2021 2 0556711.2) for a utility model.
 
The product is based on the consumption habits of fast-selling powdered food products, and uses a composite polysaccharide material to prepare the stirring stick body and water-soluble sealing film. The stick can be directly inserted into hot water for stirring, and the edible film at the bottom dissolves in water and the powder falls into the water automatically. The product can be used as a convenient packaging and stirring tool for powdered milk, meal replacement powder, etc. The formula is 100% green and safe non-toxic edible material.
 
"It is an important teaching concept of the Food and Nutritional Sciences Program at MUST. The five students have put their professional knowledge into practice from the perspective of social needs, providing a new solution for the fast-moving powder food market.
