Outstanding Achievement Award in Humanities and Social Science Research

I. Purpose

In order to further test the achievements of Macao humanities and social science research, better promote the enthusiasm and creativity of Macao researchers, and promote the prosperity and development of Macao's academic undertakings, the Macao Foundation and the China Social Sciences Magazine jointly organized the Sixth Macao Humanities and Social Sciences Research Outstanding Achievement Award. At the same time, in order to recognize those who have made outstanding contributions and major achievements in promoting or researching the field of humanities and social sciences in Macao, the Macao Outstanding Contribution Award in Humanities and Social Sciences is renewed to this year's award.

III. Awarding Bodies

  1. Establish the Macao Humanities and Social Sciences Research Outstanding Achievements Review Committee, which is responsible for leading the work of the entire award and conducting the final evaluation of the evaluation results.
  2. The judging committee has two directors and twelve members.
  3. The Macao Humanities and Social Sciences Research Outstanding Achievements Evaluation Committee has set up a Liaison Office for Awards, which is located in the Macao Foundation and the Chinese Social Sciences Magazine (hereinafter referred to as the "Macao Awards Office" and the "Beijing Awards Office"), which are responsible for the daily specific work of the awards.

IV. Scope and classification of awards

(1) Macao Outstanding Achievement Award in Humanities and Social Science Research

  1. All domestic and foreign scholars who have officially published and published works on the humanities and social sciences in Macao (including monographs, popular science works, papers, research reports, translations, reference books, ancient books, etc.) officially published and published by domestic and foreign scholars between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2020 (subject to the date indicated on the publication) can participate in the competition.
  2. The subjects of the award are divided into four categories: economic management, political law, journalism and sociology, historical philosophy and literature, and language education and arts.

(2) Macao Outstanding Contribution Award in Humanities and Social Sciences

Recommended and selected by the members of the Macao Humanities and Social Sciences Research Outstanding Achievements Evaluation Committee, it is specially commended to those who have been committed to promoting the development of Macao's humanities and social sciences for more than 2 years, or who have made outstanding contributions and major achievements in the field of humanities and social sciences research in Macao.

Neither the members of the Judging Committee nor the staff directly under the organiser will be permitted to participate in the judging event.

V. Declaration time

July 1, 2021 to September 30, 2021 (mailing is based on postmark date). (Filing time is 3 months)

VI. Awards

(1) Macao Outstanding Achievement Award in Humanities and Social Science Research

There are 60 awards, including 4 first prizes, 4 second prizes, 8 third prizes and 12 merit awards in the book category. There are 4 first prizes, 4 second prizes, 12 third prizes and 12 merit awards in the thesis category.

Winners will receive a certificate and the corresponding prize money:

1. Publications:

First prize of MOP 50,000 each (MOP, the same below)

The second prize is 30,000 yuan per item

The third prize is 15,000 yuan each

Merit Awards are $10,000 each

2. Thesis:

The first prize is 25,000 yuan per item

The second prize is RMB 15,000 each

The third prize is 8,000 yuan each

Merit Awards are $5,000 each

The proportion of the above awards may be adjusted according to the application situation, and if necessary, it can be dealt with from the shortage, but the total number of awards in each award category (works, papers) remains unchanged.

(2) Macao Outstanding Contribution Award in Humanities and Social Sciences

Winners receive honorary certificates.

VII. Declaration Measures

Applicants who intend to apply for the Macao Outstanding Achievement Award in Humanities and Social Science Research:

  1. If the declarant is not the first author of the work, the declarant must submit a declaration to show that he has obtained the consent of the other authors to declare.
  2. Two upper limits of submissions to be declared in each award category (works, papers) (calculated based on the number of applicants declared, and the first author is counted as the first author in the case of co-authored works). Each publication is required to submit one return form, four samples of the publication (including one original, if the published work is an electronic version and the original cannot be provided, the relevant certificate or description must be attached), and the electronic document providing the work (the final published or published version) must be attached.
  3. The relevant return forms can be obtained from the Macao Awards Liaison Office or downloaded from the Macao Foundation website (website: www.fmac.org.mo) or the China Social Science Network website (website: www.cssn.cn).
  4. The applicant is required to submit or mail the information to the Macao Awards Liaison Office (Macau Foundation, 13/F, Times Commercial Centre, 619 Avenida Da Nanwan, Macau) during the application time.
  5. Please indicate "The 6th Macao Humanities and Social Science Research Outstanding Achievement Award" on the cover ofthe application  

VIII. Review Procedure

The Macao Outstanding Achievement Awards in Humanities and Social Science Research shall be conducted in accordance with the procedures of preliminary evaluation, re-evaluation and final evaluation.

  1. Preliminary evaluation: The judging committee will score and select it to enter the re-evaluation.
  2. Re-evaluation: The review committee will focus on the evaluation according to the discipline, and preliminarily select the first, second and third prizes and merit awards.
  3. Final evaluation: The chairman of the evaluation committee and all members will deliberate and finally determine the winners of the first, second and third prizes and merit awards.

IX. Timing of awards

From July to September 2021, individual declaration;

October 2021 to the first quarter of 2022, judging;

Results will be announced for the second quarter of 2022.

X. If there are any unfinished matters in these Articles of Association, the Organizer reserves the right of final interpretation and decision.
