Two professors from the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) ranked among the top 20 Chinese scholars in terms of academic impact

According to the "2012-2021 CNS Journal Paper Impact Ranking of Chinese Scholars" released on January 24, 2022, Professor Chang Kang Chair of the Faculty of Medicine of the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) and Distinguished Professor Wang Jun of the Macau Institute for Applied Research in Medicines and Health (MIRDAM) are ranked 17th and 18th respectively on the list. This signifies that the academic standard and influence of the scholars at MUST are on par with the top scholars in China. Among the top 100 scholars in the ranking, two scholars from AUST are on the list, while three scholars from the University of Hong Kong are on the list.

The ranking is based on all papers published in Cell, Nature, and Science (CNS for short) from 2012 to 2021, and is based on the number of papers, principal authors, specialty paper scores, total paper scores, and H-index. The papers published in these journals are often related to major theoretical innovations or discoveries in a particular discipline, and are regarded as an important indicator of the author's academic level or influence.

Kang Zhang is Chair Professor of Medicine at MUST. He holds a PhD in Medicine from Harvard University and MIT, and a PhD in Genetics from Harvard University. He has extensive clinical experience and basic research achievements in the fields of medical artificial intelligence, ophthalmology, stem cells, biomaterials and 3D printing, genetics and precision medicine, and has received many international awards. He has published more than 200 articles in leading international journals such as Nature, Science, Cell, and New England Journal of Medicine. Prof. Kang Zhang has been selected as one of the "Highly-Cited Researchers" by Clarivate Analytics for two consecutive years, in 2019 and 2020. His articles have been cited more than 38,000 times and have an H-index of 90.

Jun Wang is a Distinguished Professor at the Australian Institute of Pharmaceutical and Health Applications at MUST. He graduated from Peking University with a PhD in Bioinformatics. He has published more than 100 articles in leading international journals such as Nature, Science, Cell, and the New England Journal of Medicine, and has been selected as one of the "World's Most Cited Scientists" for four consecutive years and eight times. He is also the founder and CEO of Carbon Cloud Intelligence and former CEO of UW Genetics. Fortune magazine named him one of the world's top 40 under 40 in 2013.
