VI. Academic Requirements
- MBBS program adopts a year-based system instead of a credit-based system.
- Students have to pass and fulfil all the graduation requirements as stipulated in the study plan (including compulsory, elective courses and internship) within the prescribed study period; students who do not satisfy the criteria for passing an assessment in the first attempt shall be required to take the supplementary assessment. Failure in the supplementary assessment will require that the student repeats the whole year of the medical program containing that course, block, or rotation.
- Students can enroll in these courses according to the requirements of the program and their interests. They may retake or enroll in other elective courses if they fail.
- After successfully passing all the assessments in the MBBS program, medical students will undertake a 12-month compulsory, supervised internship at recognized training units (hospitals or medical institutions) in Macao and beyond.
- After completing the Specialty Clerkship and revision period, students need to undergo and pass the final assessment before they can be awarded the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.
VII.Requirements for Graduation
Upon approval from the Senate of the University, a student shall be eligible for the award of the degrees of MBBS if:
- The student has satisfied the prescribed program requirements and has passed all the assessments as prescribed in the study plan of the MBBS program;
- The student has abided by the regulations of the University;
- The student has cleared all fees and charges and returned all University property and equipment borrowed.
