Doctor of Philosophy of Management in Film Industry Study Plan

II. Program Duration

The normal study period of PhD of Management in Film Industry program is 3 years. The maximum study period is 6 years. (Students admitted in or before academic year 2018/2019, please refer to the rules and regulations as stipulated in the intake academic year study plan).

This program includes four compulsory core courses and three elective courses, academic activities and a doctoral dissertation.

VI. Teaching Requirements

  1. Students are required to complete four core courses from Table 1 and three elective courses from Table 2 during the first 2 semesters to gain 21 credits. After finishing each course, students have to pass the examination or finish a study report. The students’ grades of each course are given based on the overall assessment of their in-class discussion, grades of examination and reports, etc.
  2. Students are required to complete the field study during the second or third year of study and submit study reports.
  3. Students can start writing the thesis proposal upon the completion of the aforementioned 21 credits under Table 1 and 2. Students can continue their dissertation research and writing upon completion of thesis proposal defense.
  4. Students have to publish at least one academic paper in the approbatory academic journal. Then, they can attain the arrangement to carry on the oral defense.
  5. The dissertation should pass the assessment and be defended successfully.

VII. Study Time

The duration for taking all courses is 12 months and the duration of dissertation composition is 24 months. Classes are normally scheduled on weekdays (Monday to Saturday) in day time and evening.

VIII. Graduation Requirements

Upon approval from the Senate of the University, a Doctoral Degree will be conferred on a student when he or she has:

  1. Completed and met the requirements prescribed in the study plan of his or her program within the specific study period, and achieved a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or above (excluding dissertation)
  2. Abided by the regulations of the University
  3. Cleared all fees and charges and returned all University’s property and equipment borrowed
