Doctor of Philosophy in Management
Study Plan

I. Program duration
The normal study duration of Doctor of Philosophy in Management program is 3 years. The maximum duration is 6 years.

IV. Admission Requirements
Applicants who have a master’s degree from a recognized university with majors in management related areas and have passed the entrance examination given by the Macau University of Science and Technology.

The total number of words should be at least 80,000 if written in Chinese. If written in English, the number of pages should be more than 130. |
VIII. Course Requirements
- Students are required to complete 6 core courses in Table 1 and 4 elective courses in Table 2.
- The qualification examination: After completing
the6 core courses in Table 1 and 4 elective courses in Table 2 and obtaining the 30 credits,student must participateinand pass "the qualification examination" before the thesis proposal oral defence. If student does not pass "the qualification examination" for the first time, student may take the make-up examination one more time within 3 months. If student still not able to pass "the qualification examination" for the second time, his/her study will be terminated. If the student decides not to participate in "the qualification examination", student can apply for termination of study. - After passing the qualification examination, the student must pass through the thesis proposal oral defence and determine the thesis title by the end of the second year.
- After the confirmation of the thesis title, students can start thesis writing. The duration for thesis writing should be at least 12 months and up to 24 months. The duration is defined from the date of thesis title confirmation to the date of thesis submission.
- The students must publish at least one paper in an approbatory tier-one academic journal or two papers in approbatory tier-two journals during their studying period in order to proceed to thesis oral defense.
- The thesis must pass the examination and oral defense.
IX. Study Time
The duration for taking all courses is 12 months and the duration for thesis writing is 24 months.
X. Graduation Requirements
Upon approval from the Senate of the University, the Doctor of Philosophy in Management will be conferred on a student when he or she has:
(1) Completed and met the requirements prescribed in the study plan of his or her program within the specific study period, and achieved a cumulative GPA of 2.50* or above (excluding thesis)
(2) Abided by the regulations of the University
(3) Cleared all fees and charges and returned all University’s property and equipment borrowed
